As a squad we relish the firm pitches seen at the end of the season. Our style of quick open rugby is enhanced on dry wide pitches. Great passing, support and excellent recycling was simply too good for the opposition we faced at the Pool stage.
In the opening match the home team of Yeovil were given an early wake up call with Chew winning 7-0.
Trowbridge RFC were next up. This was the first time we had played this team and they had some very big kids who tackled well, limiting a Chew victory to 4-0.
The final game in the Pool was against Castle Cary RFC who we quickly closed down to secure a final spot with a 6-0 win.
And so to the final, against another club we had never played before. Crewkerne RFC, who although quicker around the pitch than our previous opposition could not cope with the Chew attack and a 7-0 victory in the final resulted.

Our attacking play was very good with 24 tries scored in four games, but it was our miserly defence that was so impressive. No tries conceded in the tournament.
This Scrooge like defence that was encapsulated in the final when 6-0 up with Crewkerne playing down hill intercepted a Chew pass. A clear run in you would have thought but a brilliant last ditch tackle (JW) on our own line and quick turnover saw another try for Chew on the final whistle.
Fantastic results, such impressive defence and a brilliant team spirit.
