With the weather remarkably spring-like with sunshine and a breeze blowing down the hill, Imperial welcomed their largest crowd of the season as Chew Valley II came to town.

With Daniel Brooker selected at 10 it brought back memories of the days of Tom Gibbons, Will Mellersh and Dean Wring at outside half when their opposite numbers spent most of the game hoping the ten didn't have a running game.

Playing up the hill in the first half an Imperial fumble gifted possession from the kick-off Flanker Max Dorington picked up a knock on his first carry to be replaced by Will Trick.

Two quick penalties took Imperials to the five metre but a squint throw and the siege gun boot of Daniel Brooker at 10 cleared the danger.

With the visitor's defence strong a cross-field kick and a favourable bounce saw a try in the corner for John Caddick. 5 - 0 on 15 minutes.

Basic handling errors spoilt what possession Chew Valley enjoyed.
Penalties kept Imperial in the visitor's 22 and a card for scrum-half George Chapman for standing too close to his opposite number with the ball dead as Ross Hickery pushed him on 23 minutes.

Flanker Ben Davis picked a great line for try on the half-hour converted by Brooker 5 - 7.

Cam Hayfield at fullback crossed on 35 minutes and converted by 10. 12 - 7.

A penalty from Connor Shean stretched the lead to 15-7 close to halftime. Although time left for sharp hands to put flanker Alex Monk in at the corner. Chapman converted 15-14 with two mins to the break.

The handling move of the half saw Caddick in at the left corner 20- 14 HT

Frank Worle hooking for the day followed a charge down and won a penalty try at 45 minutes 20 - 21.

Brooker grabbed the bonus point try on 47 minutes as the defence didn't fancy a hit on 23 stone and bought the dummy. Chapman converted 20 - 28.

A Luke Sparkes Brown turnover and quick reactions from Davis put fullback Zac Kavanagh in space and he fed winger Lee Wedlake in for a try on 52 minutes. 20 - 33.

when a maul went 20 metres after a James Stone lineout take the backs handled to put winger Joe Webb in at the corner. Chapman converted on the hour 20 - 40.

Imperial pounced on a midfield error for a score as the visitors sought to play 7s on 63 minutes 25 - 40.

Sparkes Brown was away and clear after another turnover with 15 on the clock only for the whistle for an injury.

A Chapman chip and Wedlake follow up with Trick in support for a try with 10 left on the clock. Chapman converted 25 - 47.

Wedlake saw yellow for reacting to being held illegally at a ruck.
A dominant maul to the line gave Sparkes Brown a deserved try for his all-action performance. Chapman converted 25 - 54

The trademark Hickery kicks the ball out of the 9s hands at scrum time earned him a yellow much to the delight of the crowd.

With Imps struggling for fitness the game played out with bursts of individual effort from the hosts but the support wasn't there and it finished 25 - 54.
