With the wind in the first half, the Chew Forwards dominated from the off with impressive rucking, mauling and support play, leaving little for the Cleve Pack. What little ball the big Cleve Backs received was often on the back foot and thus strong defence from the Chew Backs nullified any attacking threat. Four impressive tries gave Chew a commanding lead. Half Time 24v0.

In the second half, with Chew against the wind, Cleve upped their game and capitalised on Chew mistakes, scoring from the restart 24v7. Again the Chew forwards settled nerves with a patient push over try, 29v7. The pattern continued throughout the half with Cleve scoring off Chew mistakes 29v14 and Chew striking back 34v14 to ensure victory.

Full credit must be given to the Cleve XV who never let their heads drop and competed strongly to the end to score the last try. FT 34v21.

Chew Valley U15's now progress to the Final on Sunday 8th March, but before that play the Somerset Cup Semi Final v Hornets, under floodlights at Chew on Friday 28th February.
